5 Ways to Avoid Weight Gain Over the Festive Period

One thing is certain that it will happen during Christmas period, you’ll eat until you drop, and while many others have decided to give up on their goals and weight loss journey, there are plenty of ways to ensure you’re not overfed and that you meet your fitfam goals.

1. Eat healthy
Stock up on carrots, cabbage, lettuce, and fruits like oranges, pineapple, and bananas. The good thing about vegetables and fruits is that they are quite filling. You can also make salads and smoothies with them.

2. If you are going out, eat before you go out
One of the reasons why people eat a lot is that wherever they are during the festive period, they are offered high-calorie food. This can be resolved by eating healthy before you go out, so you can say no when offered food.

3. Use a small plate and eat small portions.
This is an unknown hack, but if you must eat jollof rice, plantains, pounded yams, and all sorts, use a small plate that reduces your portion size, so you’re not overfed.

4. Stay away from carbonated drinks
There are so many alternatives to soft drinks. Like freshly squeezed juice and even yogurt. Keep your alcohol level to a minimum because alcohol even has as many calories as soft drinks.

5. Take long walks
Don’t just eat and sit on vacation, you have to move! When you feel full and almost constipated, drink lots of water and go for a long walk.
