Adeleke will fire Oyetola’s permanent staff on Monday – Spokesperson

Osun state governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has vowed to fire all 30 permanent secretaries appointed by state governor Gboyega Oyetola on Thursday by Monday, Adeleke’s spokesman Olawale Rasheed said.

Adeleke said she would sack Oyetola’s new permanent secretaries on Monday, following her inauguration as state governor on Sunday.

Oyetola had approved on Thursday, November 24, the appointment of 30 senior officials as permanent secretaries, while Adeleke’s inauguration as governor was scheduled for Sunday, November 27.

Reacting to the appointment, Adeleke, in a statement from her spokesman, Rasheed, promised that the appointed officials would be fired on Monday.

The statement read: “Any coordinating director who accepts a permanent secretary appointment from outgoing Governor Gboyega Oyetola will leave service effective November 28, Osun State Governor-elect Senator Ademola Adeleke warned.

“The governor-elect asserted that taking such appointments at this last moment indicated the willingness of those directors to exit state service.

“We want to record that those who accept appointments must be ready to leave service, whether or not their tenure in service has reached the legal age. The occupants will be treated as political appointees who will automatically follow the outgoing governor out of public service effective November 28.

“At the same time, those who still want to remain in the service of the Osun state government must reject the Greek gift of the outgoing governor.

“We affirm that no resignation will be considered for the dismissal of any Kangaroo Permanent Secretary.”
