Anderson Cooper is an American journalist and television host, born June 3, 1967 in New York. Her father is the writer Wyatt Emory Cooper and her mother is the heiress, artist and fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt. He has a brother, Carter, who committed suicide at age 23 in 1988.
Marked by the death of his brother, Anderson Cooper decides to become a journalist. After studying at the Dalton School, he studied at Yale, where he graduated in Political Science in 1989. In 1990, he flew to Vietnam, having been accepted to study at the University of Hanoi. After his studies, he found work as a fact-checker at Channel One News. At the same time, he traveled the world to report on wars in Somalia and Rwanda, among others, which earned him the position of chief international correspondent for the channel.
In 1995, Anderson Cooper became a correspondent for ABC News. In 2000, the journalist took a break from his profession and opted to present the reality TV show The Mole (The Mole, in French), broadcast in prime-time on ABC. Six years later, he moved to CNN, replacing Paul Zahn on the show American Morning. The year 2003 marked a turning point in his career, since he became anchor with Anderson Cooper 360°. On the private side, Anderson Cooper revealed his homosexuality in July 2012. On April 30, 2012, he announced on CNN that he was the father of a boy named Wyatt Morgan Cooper, born April 27, 2020. He then found love in the arms of Benjamin Maisani, who adopts his first child. On February 10, 2022, he still declared on CNN that he was the father of a second son, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper.
