(NewsNation) — The Justice Department has responded to a stay issued by Chief Justice John Roberts temporarily halting the expiration of Title 42.
According to Tuesday’s filing, the Justice Department opposes the controversial border policy but asks that lawmakers have more time to come to a different resolution before ending it.
With the uncertainty of Title 42 in mind, San Luis, Arizona has declared a local state of emergency as the border crisis overwhelms its resources.
