it’s almost time to Blake Lively and her husband ryan reynolds to welcome their fourth child together. the Hollywood power couple he’s still headlining movies and busy owning a collection of companies, not to mention buy a british football team and winning a host of new awards along the way. However, the duo is most famous for putting their family first. They do it in sweet and endearing ways, and with a few humorous jabs, too.
When it comes to the work process, it’s safe to say that Lively, and Reynolds as her support system, are old pros. It’s also a safe bet that Reynolds has learned what to do (or not to do) in the delivery room.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are expecting their fourth child together
Lively, 35, and Reynolds, 46, met on the set of the green lantern and then married in 2012. Together they now have three daughters: James (born 2014), Inez (born 2016), and Betty (born 2019).
Although the Hollywood icons share their film projects and businesses, they maintain their private family life. The two do not post pictures of their children on social media. And most of the pictures of their children are from when James and Inez were little. (Even then, their faces are blocked if it was posted by Lively or Reynolds.) The three girls could have a taylor swift song that names them, but they are otherwise shielded from celebrity life.
In September 2022, Lively posted a carousel of herself at various stages of her most recent pregnancy, mainly to ward off the paparazzi who had surrounded her family home. “Here are pictures of me pregnant in real life so the 11 guys waiting outside my house for a [unicorn] the sighting will leave me alone,” he wrote in instagram. “You scare me and my kids.”
In keeping with maintaining their family’s privacy, Lively and Reynolds have not shared when their fourth addition is due. However, in 2022 People’s Choice Awards on December 6, Reynolds said that Baby No. 4 would be coming “very soon”. She joked that she would need to find someone’s couch to stay on if the baby came while accepting The People’s Icon award at the event.
Lively didn’t find all of Reynolds’ teasing during labor with her eldest son amusing
In an interview with Seth Meyers a few years ago, Meyers asked Reynolds for advice on supporting his own wife, who was about to give birth to their first child. Reynolds’ advice was more along the lines of a “do as I say, not as I did” situation.
At one point in the delivery room when Lively was waiting for James, Reynolds thought it would be fun to play Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.” By Reynolds’ account, it wasn’t the smartest choice of his. “It was like meat knives were coming out of his eyes,” Reynolds recalled. “She was like, ‘Are you fucking with me right now?'”
That said, Lively handled the entire process with grace, her husband said. “She was a mercenary,” Reynolds said admiringly. “I think I caught her right in the middle of a contraction. She pretty much was making jokes the whole time.”
Reynolds’ advice to Meyers and other new parents is to “do the dirty work,” like changing diapers and waking up in the middle of the night. “A human being will come out of your wife,” she said. “So she has done enough. She only changes the diapers ”.
While trolling each other, the pair also frequently root for each other
Lively and Reynolds fans probably aren’t surprised that the couple humor used to support each other during the early stages of the parenting process. In fact, the duo is famous for trolling each other, especially on social media. Both have used each other’s birthdays to roast your spouse. On other occasions, they have shared less than flattering images each other for some #nofilter humor.
And while they may tease each other at their best, they are also each other’s greatest support. “If anything defines this man, it’s the way he lives his life to honor and value his home, whether it’s me and our babies, or all of his people in this room,” Lively said during a speech. recent award ceremony recognizing Reynolds’ career.
Reynolds shared a similar sentiment when she accepted the Icon Award at the People’s Choice Awards. “Blake and my girls, literally, you are my heart, you are my hope, you are my happiness,” she said. “I joke that my family drains me, but in reality you give me more strength than any man could deserve.”
