Catherine Zeta-Jones she gave her husband the surprise of his life and he freaked out because he almost ended his life.
During a recent appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Zeta-Jones explained that Douglas has been in France filming a new project “for what seems like a lifetime” and how she got together with her kids to surprise him at parties. She called the surprise, “one of those big, big, big moments.”
“The kids and I surprised him for Thanksgiving. I had no idea. Carys, my daughter, flew in from the east coast. I was here with my son, we flew from here, we went into the hotel, under cover of night,” Zeta-Jones explained. “He came home from work and there we were. He was one of those, I thought he was going to have a heart attack for a minute. He staggered back and said, ‘Oh my God,’ and started crying. It was one of those big, big, big moments.”
Zeta-Jones, 53, and Douglas, 78, were married 22 years after first meeting in 1998.

“My husband is 25 years older than me; that’s no secret,” the actress told The Wall Street Journal in April 2021. “With any relationship, it wouldn’t be normal if there weren’t ups and downs. The constant is love, is respect. We have never, ever lost our sense of humor and enjoy each other’s company.”
In August 2013, Zeta-Jones and Douglas announce their separation.
The separation lasted eight months and the couple reunited in April 2014. At the time, Douglas said: “I’m crazy about her. And yes, I think that every couple has their difficult moments.
Zeta-Jones looked up. the marriage of his parents as a “model” of what a successful marriage looks like, saying he realized it’s important to be open and honest with your partner.
“I think it is incomprehensible to me that you are with one person for 18 years, and things are not rosy every day. They just aren’t,” he told the “Today Show” in 2017. “My mom and dad were married for 52 years, and they were a wonderful role model for me, because I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. with them, and they are still going strong.”
The actress of “Wednesday” recently revealed to the hosts of “Good Morning America” which of the two of them is the better gift giver. She had no problem admitting that Douglas would take home that award, joking that she “peaked around eighth year.”

Zeta-Jones revealed that her husband is great at choosing jewelry, saying that “it’s something that I really love and treasure” because of the “sentimental value, obviously.”
The eighth year of their marriage was the year Zeta-Jones thinks he gave her the ultimate gift: an old-school hot rod.

“A hot rod that had a chance to call, a 1930s coupe”, he clarified before speaking to the camera. “I’m going to be wrong, Michael, I’m sorry. It looks like a little Bugsy Malone car. … It’s really great. And then I hit my peak! They’ve been socks ever since.”
