On Friday, December 16, 2022, many music fans around the world were shocked to hear that German trance DJ and producer Sven Holger Greiner, popularly known as DJ Shog, had passed away.

“Saddened to learn of the passing of DJ Shog Official. Sven was a huge influence on me growing up and it was an honor for him to support my music over the years and include it on his Dream Dance compilation CDs. My condolences go out to his friends and family.”

Who was DJshog?
DJ Shog, was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1976. Little did he know at the time that he would grow up to have a successful career as a global electronic music artist. In the early 90’s, he began to explore his interest in DJing and taking steps like attending private parties and participating in DJ contests. This led him to perform at regular concerts in northern Germany. The main boost to his career came soon after with the release of his Technics-DJ-Set double CD compilation series, which featured CDs mixed by himself and well-known artists such as Cosmic Gate and Green Court. This catapulted him to worldwide recognition in the field of electronic music.

After eight months of internships at Cuepoint Records and Hamburg 1, Sven Greiner began the first year of media sales training at EastWest Records in 1998. During this time, he joined Warner Special Marketing as Junior Product Manager and was later promoted to Product Manager in 1999. By 2001, Greiner had achieved great success when his debut single under the alias DJ SHOG topped the charts in Germany. He then began scouting trending/dance music for WEA Records two years into its promotion, an unprecedented event in Warner Music’s history. It is clear that Mr. Greiner has established himself as a qualified professional in different fields of media studies at Warner Music through more than two decades of dedication.
Sven Greiner quickly gained popularity for his work as DJ SHOG, earning him the chance to showcase his skills both nationally and internationally. As Warner Music’s director of marketing in 2003, he was not only responsible for overseeing a number of subordinates and managing multimillion-dollar annual budgets, but also acting as product manager on projects like “The Dome.” Greiner fulfilled his duty at events such as the DJ Meeting, Mayday, Nature One, “Echo” (the award ceremonies), among others, as well as being part of The Dome Line-Up family or Bravo meetings.
