A former member of the Federal House of Representatives, Gregory Egu, has been appointed Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Imo State.
Egu emerged unopposed as state stakeholders were unanimous in their support for him to take office.
The seasoned politician and several other council members took office on Friday morning in an elaborate ceremony in Owerri.
Soon after, he inspected the official campaign office of the Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
He expressed his sincere appreciation for the choice and location of the Office, which was personally secured, furnished and donated by the National Secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy).
“Today begins the journey to Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power in 2023.
“Now that we have been inaugurated, let us put our personal interests behind us and work in synergy to deliver our candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“As a political party, we can only have a chance of winning the Imo gubernatorial election if we elect a PDP president.”
He thanked party leaders for finding him worthy to serve in the capacity of Director General and vowed to put all resources into securing a landslide victory for Atiku in 2023.
