Filmmaker Jordan Walker-Pearlman and his spouse Elizabeth Hunter paid $7 million for a house in LA’s Bel Air district in October 2020. Jordan is the late legendary comedian Gene Wilder’s nephew. That matters because from 1976 to 2007, Gene was the owner of this exact house. In 1976, Gene paid $300,000 for the house. In 2007 he sold the house for a $2.7 million profit.
2013 saw another sale of the mansion for $6.75 million. If Elon ever did reside at this house, it’s uncertain. He also had twelve additional houses in California, several of them far larger and more opulent, throughout his ownership. Not that the Wilder residence isn’t striking, mind you.
In October 2020, Elon put the Gene Wilder home up for $7 million on the market. Jordan Walker-Pearlman, the nephew of Gene Wilder, and his spouse Elizabeth Hunter arrived.
Elon Musk intended to preserve the land when he sold the house to Walker-Pearlman and Hunter. In actuality, he did one better. To purchase the house from him for $7 million, Elon extended a $6.7 million loan to the couple.
That was mutually beneficial. Elon Musk had the opportunity to sell the house to a buyer that valued and respected Gene Wilder’s heritage. With barely $300,000 down, Jordan and Elizabeth purchase an incredible $7 million home in Bel Air.
Regretfully, the agreement soured at some point.
The pair finally fell behind on debt repayment, partly due to the strikes that occurred in the film and television industries last year.
Elizabeth is listed as the owner of the property, and it appears that she made the decision to sell it after falling behind on her payment to Musk. In the words of Walker-Pearlman.
Just one stipulation on sale: I own Gene Wilder’s old house. It cannot be torn down or lose any its soul.

He continued by saying that Musk’s representative had made it plain that, in spite of the foreclosure filing, he does not plan to force the house to be sold, even though, within ninety days of the foreclosure, he would have been legally entitled to do so. Nonetheless, the property is asking $12.95 million when it is posted for sale.
