This is the Moto X40 Pro that will be released soon.

Motorola has teased the launch of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Motorola X40 Pro. Motorola’s next flagship smartphone will launch with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Motorola is likely to launch the phone in global markets including India, as Edge 40 Pro. The device is likely to launch in China in December 2022. While you wait for the official announcement of the launch date, MySmartPrice brings you the design renders of the Motorola X40 Pro aka Edge 40 Pro.

Courtesy of tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer aka OnLeaks, Design renderings reveal the front and back panel layout of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. Leaked renders suggest that the Moto Edge 40 Pro is set to receive some design changes compared to the previous model. Let’s take a look at renderings of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro’s design, specs, and other details ahead of its official launch.

Motorola X40 Pro design renderings

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is expected to launch early next year in India. Ahead of its India launch, the phone will debut as the Motorola X40 Pro in China. Motorola’s flagship is getting some design changes compared to the Edge 30 Pro, according to high-quality design renderings shared by OnLeaks exclusively with MySmartPrice.

The back panel of the phone now sports a square-shaped camera module. It will house a triple camera setup and an LED flash inside. In the center of the back panel is the Motorola logo.

On the front, there’s a hole-punch cutout at the top center of the 6.67-inch curved display. Design renders also confirm that the phone’s right column houses the power button and volume rocker. The USB Type-C port can be found sandwiched between the main speaker grill and the microphone cutout. There are cutouts on the top edge, which could presumably be for the secondary speaker or a microphone.

The Motorola X40 Pro measures 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.6mm, according to the latest leak we received from OnLeaks. With the bulge of the camera module, the device is 10.8mm thick. The X40 Pro 5G is likely to come with a glass back. Motorola launched the Edge 30 Pro with a plastic frame, but considering that the Edge 30 Fusion came with a metal chassis, we can expect the update to carry over to the next successor phone as well. Since the rendered images have antenna lines on the frame, we can expect the X40 5G to have a metal frame.

Other details of Motorola’s flagship phone have been released in the past. The smartphone is likely to have a 6.67-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. It will support a 165Hz refresh rate and will likely come with HDR10+ certification as well.

The rear camera setup will feature a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a new 12MP telephoto camera, according to rumors. For selfies, there will be a 60MP front camera sensor.

Under the hood, there will be the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The phone reportedly topped the Dimensity 9200 SoC score on AnTuTu. The Edge 40 Pro powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scored 1312901, while the Dimensity 9200 SoC scored 1266101.

We can expect Motorola to launch the phone with up to 12 GB of RAM. The base model will have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The 12GB RAM option, on the other hand, could come with 256GB of internal storage.

The phone is confirmed to come with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. It is likely to pack a beefy 5000mAh battery and 68W fast charging support. Lastly, it will boot Android 13-based MyUX 4.0 out of the box.
