The Federal Capital Territory Administration task force on Monday resumed its crackdown on illegal Exchange Office operators in the Wuse Zone 4 area of Abuja.
The task force extended its raid to some red-light areas within the Central Business District, torching locations suspected of being illicit and illegal drug colonies.
FCT Director of Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement Attah Ikharo explained that the task force would have no choice but to continue making arrests, if the operators refused to work within the provisions of the law.
Noting that FCT Minister Malam Muhammed Bello wanted residents to succeed in their various businesses and enterprises, Ikharo explained that reports from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission intelligence unit concerned authorities and he added that if they did not obey the law, relevant forces may need to be involved to ensure the sanitization of the industry.
Commenting on the raid on colonies of suspected drug traffickers, the director said that efforts have been redoubled to guarantee a peaceful festive period in the Federal Capital.
“We had to address the problem of insecurity by removing all the slums around the Bolingo Hotel and the Churchgate buildings,” Ikharo said.
