Gerhard Rodax was an Austrian professional footballer. Born on August 29, 1965, Rodax played as a striker for Austria’s international team, Admira Wacker, and for Atlético Madrid. He started his professional career at Admira Wacker and stayed with them for seven years.
In 1990 Rodax became the top scorer in the Austrian football Bundesliga. This helped him win a contract with the Spanish team Atlético de Madrid. However, he played just over one season and then returned to Austria to play for Rapid Wien.
Rodax retired from professional soccer in 1993 at the age of 28. However, he returned two years later before saying his last goodbye in 1996. He played 20 international matches and scored three goals.

Tributes have sprung up for former Austrian soccer legend Gerhard Rodax, who has died at the age of 57. Atlético de Madrid led the tributes for the late striker.
“The rojiblanca family is mourning the death of Gerhard Rodax. The Austrian player was a member of our team in the 1990-91 season and won a Copa del Rey. You will always be in our hearts,” the club wrote on Twitter.
Rapid Wien also paid tribute to the late Austrian footballer. “Very sad news reached us today,” they wrote.
“Our former player Gerhard Rodax died in a tragic accident at the age of 57 after a serious illness.
“Our sincere condolences go out to his bereaved family.”
