Who was B.B. King?
BB King was a prominent figure at Knott Central during his time as a player, his 1941 points making him the third leading scorer of all time for the Patriots. His presence extended beyond his time on the court, as he continued to contribute to Knott Central during his 12 years as coach.
During his coaching career, which culminated in a 260-109 record, King won seven district titles, five regional titles and three regional All “A” titles, an astonishing achievement by any measure.
One of the crown jewels of his tenure that he coached was Camron Justice, who was Mr. Basketball 2015 and the only Mr. Basketball to ever hail from Knott County. King’s accomplishments speak for themselves, he truly established himself as an indelible figure in Knott County athletics during his impressive career.

How did BB King die? What happened to the basketball legend?
The news of BB King’s passing has left the world with a heavy heart. According to reports, he had been suffering from pneumonia in both lungs and had to be hospitalized earlier in the week.
A family member of BB King shared the update on his health in a Facebook post.
Unfortunately, his condition reportedly worsened, leading to him being placed on a ventilator in an intensive care unit at ARH Whitesburg. On December 20, 2022 he sadly passed away.
Although the official cause of death has not yet been announced by his family or acquaintances.
