Shortly before midnight on Friday, November 18, a shocking accident occurred near the Kings Park Hotel in Rutherglen. John Laird was driving the Mercedes C220 which unfortunately collided with a Ford Mondeo. It happened around 11:50 p.m. on Mill Street at Kings Park Avenue.

As soon as this tragic accident occurred, John Laird drove to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead due to fatal injuries. Another passenger in the car, Michael McManamon, who was 73 years old, was ultimately killed at the time of the collision.
Rutherglen Police are reportedly calling for witnesses and have arrested a 34-year-old man, who was uninjured in the crash.

Mr. Laird’s family issued a statement on the unfortunate death of John Laird, saying: “We are shocked and devastated by the loss of our beloved John, husband, father and grandfather.
