Who was Lyle Moore?
Lyle Moore was born on June 5, 1946 in Hamilton, Canada. He was born to the late Kenneth Moore and Joan (née Smith) Moore. His mother passed away in 1950, when he was just 4 years old. His father was the one who raised him, with the help of his stepmother Ruth Moore.
He studied in his hometown and completed his graduation from Garfield High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as an infantryman in Vietnam with the 1st Battalion/9th Marine Division. After that, he dedicated his life to the Marine Corps in Vietnam.
In 1967, Lyle Moore married his girlfriend Joann McKibben. He had two children, David Moore and Wendi Roush. He was a lovely husband and the best father to his children. He was always dedicated to his work and to the Hamilton community.

He dedicated his life to serving as a Marine Corps military veteran, coming home, serving in Vietnam and also gave away his 27 years in the fire service with the Hamilton Fire Department.” They also noted, “After his retirement as the Hamilton Fire Marshal, he began working for IAFF Local 20 and our retiree association. His dedication to his work led one of his sons, Dave, to follow a similar path in the fire service, being promoted to the rank of Captain in Tower 22.
His is highly respected at IAFF Local 20 and the Hamilton Fire.” “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Chief Moore.
