Behind the scenes, the Duke of Sussex is actively preparing his return to the royal fold. And we wonder: would Prince Harry be “lost”?
The first time we had doubts was in June 2022. Seeing Prince Harry perched on his steed, wearing a riding helmet and wearing protective glasses during a polo match in Carpinteria, we wondered if the Duke of Sussex wasn’t a little homesick. The youngest of King Charles III actually practiced this activity for many years when he lived in England – polo was not exactly the sport of choice for Californians.
Prince Harry’s California Lifestyle: A Temporary Satisfaction?
Since 2020, the gap between the prince and his family has continued to widen. The “Megxit” , the interview given by the Sussexes to Oprah Winfrey, their Netflix series and the publication of Prince Harry’s abrasive memoirs have completed the loosening of their ties. But we have always found it difficult to believe that the Duke of Sussex’s new life fully fulfills him… Certainly, the youngest son of Charles III was for a time satisfied with his outings to the market, his walks under the sun of the West Coast, his few forays into photocalls and his nine-room villa, complete with a henhouse housing around ten birds. But this would seem to no longer be the case.
At the dawn of his 40th birthday – he will celebrate his birthday on Sunday September 15 in Montecito – Prince Harry would now seek to return to England. Better yet, the Duke of Sussex would even consider returning to the royal fold, according to the Daily Mail , on Saturday August 31. To do this, he would intend to reconcile with his father. And we learned, stunned, that the Duke of Sussex would have contacted his old British acquaintances in the greatest secrecy, via WhatsApp. All with the aim of preparing his return to grace.
In fact, he would be ready to carry out “very discreet” royal missions. Even if it means just “cutting ribbons” for a while. In search of a new “goal”, Prince Harry would thus be inclined to “work again” with the Windsors. A “rehabilitation” that the main person concerned intends to carry out with the help of his highly placed English friends, contacted by surprise after four years of exile. The nickname of this meticulous enterprise? “Operation to bring Harry out of the shadows”, again according to the Daily Mail . The latter, however, would only consider a partial return to the United Kingdom, maintaining his life in the United States. To bring together the best of both worlds?
“Prince Harry is bored”
Such audacity leaves us stunned. Just like the Times , which does not fail to mock the fallen prince. “Harry is bored and wants to go home,” quips journalist Hilary Rose. Did you say undecided? In 2020, the Sussexes left the United Kingdom – but also their royal duties – with loss and crash, flying to North America. And seemed to be doing well in the United States, where they launched their Archewell foundation and concluded lucrative agreements with Netflix and Spotify. While denouncing, for three years, the morals of the Windsors.
And we wonder: at the dawn of his forties, would the Duke of Sussex be completely lost? In recent months, Archie and Lilibet’s father has waved the white flag several times in the direction of Buckingham. In March, he issued a press release in which he wished “health and healing” to Kate Middleton, who was suffering from cancer. He also paid a (brief) visit to Charles III, also affected by this disease. Then refused to promote the pocket version of his work The Subléant , so as not to add fuel to the fire. The prince would also have given up writing the second volume of his memoirs – a condition which appeared in his contract with the publishing house Penguin Random House -, proclaiming his love for his family in the media.
A couple in danger?
A reconquest operation all the more diligent as Prince Harry no longer really enjoys the joys of life in California. A source close to the thirty-year-old assures the Sun that he would feel “increasingly isolated” within the golden state – hence his need to reconnect with his old English friends. And if the Duke of Sussex seemed delighted with his trip to Colombia – from August 15 to 18 -, kissing his wife on the forehead, addressing the theme of mental health among young people and sketching a few dance steps with Meghan Markle, he would keep, behind the scenes, a slightly bitter memory of this journey, suffering from having been eclipsed on several occasions by his wife. For royal biographer Angela Levin, Prince Harry would not even be the “substitute for his wife”… In June 2023, the Sun also revealed that the latter was attending posh Hollywood parties without her husband, who would aspire to more of tranquility. To the point that the couple would have distanced themselves, the two spouses spending time “each on their own”. Prince Harry, “exhausted by parenthood”, even has a room in his name in a large chain of hotels in Montecito, in order to “escape” alone. The former actress is struggling to launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which was recently banned from sale by the American authorities.
Seduction operation
On the communication side, Prince Harry would have opted for a radical change of strategy. Tired of “Hollywood press officers”, the Duke recently saw his tenth collaborator slam the door, at the end of 2023. Christine Weil Schirmer, the Sussexes’ communications director, resigned after three years of good and loyal service. A decision which would serve the possible new modus operandi of Prince Harry, now more concerned with consulting his former British associates.
Come to think of it, we say that attending Katy Perry concerts or basketball games, while preparing a show on polo for Netflix, may not have been enough to satisfy the Duke. But it’s hard to believe that “ Dirty Harry ” could so easily make a comeback. King Charles III, who is said to be “open” to a potential reconciliation, would also dodge calls and visits from his youngest son. Prince William, whose younger son would expect an apology, would, for his part, be burned by Prince Harry’s revelations in his book about his wife Kate Middleton. As for Queen Camilla, it is not certain that she will welcome with open arms the man who called her “dangerous and evil” in the press. Friends of the Duke of Sussex have since tried to put out the fire, ensuring that the latter “was not interested” in the idea of leaving his life in the United States, nor his new “incredible” friends. And we readily console ourselves by telling ourselves that our return to school promises to be decidedly much less complicated than that of the eternal substitute.
