In the run-up to the 2022 World Cup match between Ghana and Portugal on Thursday, November 24, many predicted that the Black Stars would emerge victorious.
However, there were some Ghanaians who also expressed optimism that whatever happens, the Portuguese team will defeat their Group H counterparts.
The phenomenon of some people in Ghana supporting Portugal to defeat the Black Stars has been defined as witchcraft by renowned gospel musician Empress Gifty.
According to the first Ghanaian gospel artist to reach 1 million followers on Instagram, it’s witchcraft to support teams in Europe you don’t know but wish the Black Stars would fail.
Sharing her opinion on the match that ended 3:2 in favor of Portugal, Empress Gifty wrote this on Facebook viewed by Amansan Krakye of MyNewsGh.com
“The definition of witchcraft is when you support teams in Europe, you don’t know it, but you wish the failure of your own team.”
Empress Gifty, known in private life as Mrs. Gifty Adorye, is a businesswoman and fashionista married to a popular politician and member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye.
