According to Van Buren police reports, Hermann was driving south on Rawsonville, not far from the Huron River, when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle.

It is not clear why the limit was exceeded. Hermann, 53, of Inkster died, while a 35-year-old man from Sumpter Township suffered minor injuries. The mishap also injured a 47-year-old Ypsilanti man. He did not suffer any injuries. The family is currently awaiting further information on the matter. The official report of the accident has not yet been made public.
