Lagos shortlists three bidders for the Fourth Continental Bridge



The Lagos State Government, through its Office of Public-Private Partnerships, has shortlisted three bidders for the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Saturday, the Governor’s Special Adviser on PPP, Mr. Ope George, said the three shortlisted bidders for Stage II of the RFP are Mota-Engil (Nigeria and Africa) CCCC and CRBC. consort; Mixed Company CGGC-CGC and CCECC & CRCCIG Consortium.

George explained that the fourth mainland bridge project was a public-private partnership transportation infrastructure development, which included the construction and operation of a toll road and a green field bridge with a design speed of 120 km/h, including the development of adjacent real estate.

He stated that upon completion, the bridge is expected to become the second longest in Africa, with three toll plazas, nine interchanges, a 4.5 km lagoon bridge and an ecological environment.

“The bridge is expected to span about 37 kilometers, starting from Abraham Adesanya in Ajah, in the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe corridor and traversing from the northwest towards the lagoon coast of the Lagos-Ibadan highway via Owutu/ Isawo in Ikorodu,” he added.

The Special Counsel said the idea to build the fourth mainland bridge was aimed at reducing severe congestion on the existing Third Mainland Bridge and opening up new areas for future development, noting that the project is expected to cost around $2.5 billion. .

He informed that the project had gone through the public bidding process comprising Request for Proposal Stage I and Request for Proposal Stage II which was issued to three shortlisted bidders, namely: Mota-Engil (Nigeria & Africa) CCCC & CRBC consort ; Mixed Company CGGC-CGC and CCECC & CRCCIG Consortium.

The Special Advisor affirmed that the Evaluation Committee, made up of representatives of the Ministry of Public Works, the Office of Public-Private Partnerships and the project advisers, began the evaluation of the documents of Stage II of the RFP presented by the three bidders. shortlisted on November 17, 2022. and that the preferred bidder be announced before the end of the year.
