Veteran comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, announced his breakup with his wife, Elsie Okpocha, on Thursday.
The PUNCH had previously reported that Basketmouth celebrated the 44th anniversary of Elsie’s birthday around September, but was unable to celebrate their annual wedding anniversary, which usually falls in November.
Taking to their verified social media to announce their divorce, Basketmouth wrote: “As much as it pains me to take my personal life into the public space, this is an unavoidable situation.
“After much deliberation, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.
“As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to provide our beautiful children with all the care, love, guidance and support they need.
“We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate these times. Thank you,” she said.
