Lionel Messi hints at his retirement from football after the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. The Argentine captain, who scored from a penalty and starred equally in Julián Álvarez’s other two goals against Croatia to lead his country to the final , has assured that the clash at the summit will be his last tour with the Albiceleste.

“I feel very happy to be able to achieve this, to end my World Cup career playing my last game in a final,” Messi told the Argentine outlet Diario Deportivo Olé.
“The next one is many years away and I don’t think I can do it. And ending like this is the best”, added the captain of Argentina.
