Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Friday approved a Christmas bonus of 10,000 naira for all retirees in the state.
The governor, in a statement from his chief press secretary Taiwo Adisa, said the action was taken to help the retired workers, who served meritoriously to the state, have a good Christmas.
The bonus, according to the statement, comes days after the government paid the December 2022 salary to workers and pensions.
The government had also approved the payment of the 13th month’s salary, which Makinde said would be paid on or before December 31, 2022.
It read: “His Excellency has approved the payment of N10,000 to all pensioners in the state as a Christmas Turkey bonus. It is a flat rate for all pensioners.
“The bonus comes days after the state government paid the salaries of December 2022 to workers and pensioners. The Governor had similarly approved the payment of the 13th month salary, which is expected to be paid on or before December 31, 2022.
“His Excellency wishes all retirees a Merry Christmas.
“The bonus is a token of His Excellency’s appreciation and assistance to our senior citizens and retirees, who have served the state meritoriously for decades.”
