mike leach is a popular college football coach and is currently the coach at Mississippi State University. Leach was born on March 9, 1961, to Frank and Sandra Leach in Susanville, California. The Leach family was always on the go due to Frank’s job as a game warden. The family eventually settled in Cody, Wyoming.

Leach attended Cody High School and played soccer there. He graduated from the school in 1979. After that, he went to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Since he was unable to play college soccer after an ankle injury he sustained in high school, he focused on rugby after that.

He graduated from college in 1983, and five years later, earned a Master of Sports Science in sports coaching in 1988.

The 61-year-old began his coaching career as an assistant at Cal Poly in 1987 and College of the Desert in 1988. A year later, he became the head coach of the Pori Bears in the Finnish American Football Association.

In 1989 he developed the famous aerial attack with Hal Humme. Later, he joined the Oklahoma staff that was under Bob Stoops. He joined Texas Tech in 2000 and was fired in 2009. He joined Washington State University in 2012 and stayed there until 2019. There he posted the third-most wins by any coach in school history. He joined his current Mississippi State team in 2020. His career record is 155-106.
