In September, country singer miranda lamberto threw it Las Vegas residency, Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency. The residency is currently scheduled to end in July 2023, and has an expansive set list showcasing Lambert’s discography. In an interview with Music Connection, Lambert revealed that one song in particular is “difficult to understand.”
Miranda Lambert thinks ‘Carousel’ is ‘hard to beat’
Lambert released his album palomino in April 2022. The album showcases Lambert’s songwriting and tells stories from different perspectives and characters.
Talking with music connectionLambert revealed that the song “Carousel” by palomino is a challenging but rewarding song in the velvet rodeo songs list
“It’s a great moment on the show. It’s not streamlined, but it’s more dramatic because of the lighting and production. Sometimes it’s hard to pass. Being a writer on it, I’m still so into it and so wrapped up in the story every time I sing it. And it’s heartbreaking. By singing it every night, I want to make sure I get the story across,” Lambert explained.
She continued: “I sing as close to the mic as possible and we use the tricks of the trade with lighting and everything. That’s something I appreciate about the Las Vegas environment. You can highlight the letters more because you are on the inside and it is controlled. For a song like that, it’s great to set it up and make the production part of the story.”

How Miranda Lambert Made Her ‘Velvet Rodeo’ Setlist
Lambert made her major label debut in 2005 and her most recent album was released in 2022. Because of this, the singer has a plethora of songs to choose from when making a set list.
“We spent a lot of time on song selection. It’s what started it all. We didn’t do any design or production until we perfected the track list. My musical director, Danny Mitchell, went through my entire catalogue. Our biggest question was how we got from ‘Kerosene’ to palomino?” Lambert told Music Connection.
The singer-songwriter continued, “I wanted to have a bit of nostalgia and also some video elements. Those videos really were such a big part of the songs, like ‘Kerosene,’ for example.”

Singer thinks part of ‘Velvet Rodeo’ is ‘cool’
In the interview with Music Connection, Lambert went into detail about what it’s been like to have a Las Vegas residency.
“I like the fact that every seat is a good seat and it’s intimate, because it’s a theater. The fact that it’s a stationary schedule, where we don’t have to move our stuff every night with the trucks and travel to the next city, allows us to have much more production than ever before,” Lambert said.
The country then shared one of their favorite moments of their velvet rodeo to show.
“The cross between a big production and all-seeing is a successful juxtaposition. And my jacket catches fire, which is pretty cool.”
