Who was Matthew McCallan?
Matthew McCallan was a 15-year-old from Dungannon, Co Tyrone, Ireland. The young man belonged to a family that was an integral member of the GAA community in the area and was known as the Pearses.
McCallan disappeared last Sunday when hundreds of volunteers gathered in the area to search for him after his family’s request. Despite vigorous search attempts, McCallan was nowhere to be found to this day.
Unfortunately, the situation took the worst turn that many of us expected but hoped would not come true.
Matthew McCallan found dead after going missing
Matthew McCallan from Dungaggon was found dead in the Fintona area just before 12pm today (Monday 5th December 2022). His body was discovered by the police who were searching for the missing to find and rescue the child.
McCallan went missing around 1:30am Sunday morning in the town of Fintona in Omagh County. He was last seen alone in the area, as revealed by security camera footage released by local police.
Following his disappearance, police began searching nearby areas for the teen along with hundreds of volunteers from the GAA community and other nearby residences.

Who killed Matthew McCallan?

PSNI Detective Inspector Michael Winters stated: “Our thoughts are much with the devastated family of Matthew who received this tragic news today. Several specially trained officers are supporting them at this time.
“Detectives will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
