Motorola has been teasing the Moto X40 China launch for the past few days. The company has finally announced the Moto X40 China launch date. According to the announcement, the Moto X40 will make its debut on December 15 in the Chinese market. Motorola has already confirmed that the Moto X40 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
The Moto X40 is expected to launch as the Moto Edge 40 Pro in global markets. MySmartPrice had exclusively revealed renders of the upcoming device a few days ago. The Moto X40 is expected to be a flagship smartphone from the killer segment. For those who don’t know, last year’s Moto X30 was one of the cheapest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered smartphones.
The design, specifications and features of the upcoming Moto X40 have already been leaked several times in the past. Let’s do a quick rundown of what we know about the Moto X40 smartphone.
Moto X40: what we know so far
The Moto X40 was spotted on TENAA a couple of months ago, which revealed that the device will feature a curved display panel with a centered hole-punch notch. The smartphone will feature a 6.67-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution. There are speculations that it will support a 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10+.
Under the hood, the Moto X40 will sport a recently announced octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is manufactured on a 4nm process and brings with it an integrated Adreno 740 GPU. It features a Kryo Prime core (clocked at 3.2 GHz) which is based on the Cortex X3 core. The Moto X40 is also confirmed to have LPDDR5X RAM.
The upcoming Moto X-series smartphone will be equipped with a triple rear camera setup. The phone is likely to have a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera. The smartphone is designed to feature a 60MP front-facing shooter for video calls and selfies.
The Moto X40’s global counterpart, the Moto Edge 40 Pro, was recently spotted at FCC, which revealed support for 125W fast charging. We can expect the Moto X40 to offer 125W fast charging as well. The listing also revealed that the Moto Edge 40 Pro could support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. The Moto X40 is designed to feature a 5000 mAh battery unit.
The Moto X40 is expected to launch in 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB configuration options. The brand has already confirmed that the device will have an IP68 rating. It will boot the company’s proprietary MyUX 4.0, based on Android 12. The phone is said to measure 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.6mm.
