Following in the footsteps of Samsung and OnePlus, Chinese smartphone giant Oppo has now announced that its flagship smartphones will be eligible for up to five years of the upgrade. Oppo says that its upcoming flagship smartphones will be eligible for four major ColoroOS updates. Oppo shared the announcement via its official ColorOS microsite.
Although Oppo’s upcoming flagship smartphones will receive four major ColorOS updates, the company will provide security patch updates to flagship smartphones for five years. It’s worth noting that Oppo’s new update policy does not apply to existing flagship smartphones and will only apply to upcoming releases of upcoming flagships.

Oppo also announced that since the introduction of ColorOS 13 in August this year, the brand has rolled out the update to up to 33 smartphones worldwide. This makes ColorOS 13 the biggest and fastest ColorOS update release to date.
Oppo says that the current iteration of ColorOS, based on Android 13, is designed for simplicity and convenience. The company says that ColorOS 13 provides smoother, more natural and vivid animations. For those who don’t know, ColorOS 13 brings with it a completely new aquamorphic design, Smart AOD, multi-screen connection, and much more. ColorOS 13 also gives users the option to add larger folders on the home screen along with customization options.
