Ray Murphy dumps APC at Cross River

Ray Murphy, one of the top leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River State, has resigned from the party.

His resignation is contained in a statement he issued on Sunday.

Expressing the reasons for his resignation, Murphy said Nigerians are traumatized and need a better presidential candidate than the “comedy blunders” that have prevailed in the ruling party.

He said; I’m not sorry! I have lost many friends because they expected me to live a lie, they expected me, like them, to condemn APC misrule in private and hail APC in public. I don’t know how to speak with a forked tongue.

“I do not regret leaving APC where I had made intellectual, material and financial contributions, all in an attempt to help ensure better governance for us!

“After much effort I realized that the public good is the last thing on the minds of APC leaders, whether in government or outside of it. Talking public good with APC is like talking to a stone, so I took a walk. I do not regret having done what my conscience tells me to do.

“I cannot support a candidacy that does not take into account the diversity of our country. I’m not sorry that I think this country needs better, in fact it deserves better than the blunder comedy that the APC is trying to sell to Nigerians to further impoverish an already traumatized and dejected citizenry.

“I am not sorry, for I am a seeker of what is right and true. This is what we do, we stand with the truth and separate ourselves from those who prefer lies.

“We stand with the public and separate ourselves from those who see nothing wrong with the mass suffering of the citizenry. I do not regret standing up for what is good for our nation.”

Prior to his resignation, Murphy served as an adviser to John Oyegun, former national president of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
