Realme launched the GT Neo 3 earlier this year in India and other markets. Key features of the GT Neo 3 include a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, Dimensity 8100, and support for fast charging up to 150W. The company is already working on the successor to the GT Neo 3. It is likely to skip a generation as the number 4 is considered unlucky in China. Instead, the company will launch the phone as the Realme GT Neo 5. The GT Neo 5 series will once again focus on offering next-gen fast charging technology, according to some leaked details that have surfaced online.
As reported by Digital Chat Station (via), the upcoming Realme GT Neo 5 series will include two premium smartphones. The tipster has also revealed the battery and fast charging details of the GT Neo 5 series. Let’s take a look at the key specifications and features of the Realme GT Neo 5 series known so far.
The Realme GT Neo 5 series will include two new models
The Realme GT Neo 5 series is said to include two models with different batteries and fast charging technology. The exact details of the nickname are unknown. However, tipster Digital Chat Staton revealed that the phones will feature two-cell batteries. One of the variants will feature a battery with the model number BLP985. The dual cell battery will have a combined capacity of 5000 mAh. The variant that offers this battery capacity will support 150W fast charging technology. In comparison, the Realme GT Neo 3 150W packs a 4,500 mAh battery.
There will be another variant of the G Neo 5 series, which will offer a total combined battery capacity of 4600 mAh. The device will support 240W fast charging out of the box. It could be based on OPPO’s SuperVOOC charging technology, which was unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022. At the time, the company claimed that its 240W charging technology will recharge a 4,500mAh battery to 100% in about 9 minutes.
In addition to the above details, the tipster also revealed that Realme’s upcoming GT Neo series smartphone will feature a Sony IMX890 sensor on the back. The main camera will also support optical image stabilization (OIS). Realme could use the same 50MP main camera sensor, which is rumored to be included in some upcoming OPPO and OnePlus premium smartphones. The sensor is said to replace the Sony IMX766 main camera sensor found in a variety of OnePlus, OPPO, and Realme smartphones.
Other details of the Realme GT Neo 5 series are unknown. The smartphone might debut in the first half of 2023. We are still a few months away from the launch. But we can expect some key specs to appear online very soon. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on the super-fast charging technology making its way to smartphones in the comments below.
