After shipping 72 million Redmi Note devices in India since 2014, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the ‘Supernote’, the next version of one of India’s most popular smartphone lines. In a detailed note, Xiaomi India revealed that it will be bringing its most powerful smartphone to the lineup yet, one with fewer UI ads and high-end hardware, spoiling the party for the Realme 10 Pro series, which in turn time is under severe criticism for displaying obscene App Recommendations.
While the note shared by Xiaomi did not reveal a release date, nor the models and their respective features, prominent tipster Mukul Sharma has spilled the beans. Redmi Note 12 series, also known as Supernote, will launch in India on January 5. It also revealed some more details about the smartphone. We’ll see.

The Supernote that the Xiaomi India team is hyping on social media is the Redmi Note 12 series. The series will include Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+.
All three smartphones will be launched in India on January 5, according to the insider. And all three smartphones will be 5G ready, just in time for users to enjoy the 5G networks to be rolled out in India.
The tipster also revealed that the top-of-the-line model, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, will feature a massive 200-megapixel main camera, which will debut for the first time in that price range in India.
While no other details about the tipster’s Redmi Note 12 series have been revealed, the Xiaomi team has subtly confirmed a few more things. For one, the Redmi Note 12 series will include in-camera OIS for the first time. The company is also striving to reduce UI-related monetization.
After the criticism, the company will also introduce fewer models in the lineup, and “each one will stand tall in its segment.” This is likely to reduce confusion regarding the series, something that has been a complaint from users and critics this year about the Redmi Note 11 series.
