Submit a Band

(Know a band weirder than these people? Clue us in!)

If you’re in a weird band or know a weird band, email us at weirdbands@gmail.com. Or better yet, post a link here to the band’s website or YouTube videos so our whole community of weirdness connoisseurs can judge. Fun!

Publicists and labels: Please DO NOT add us to your general mailing lists. At least 90% of what you rep is not right for this site and you’ll be wasting your time and (mostly) ours. And DO NOT send us anything before it’s been released. We’re not that kind of music blog. We don’t do reviews and we don’t do “premieres.” If it’s not available to all of humanity in some form, we won’t write about it.

YouTube links or embeds welcome, and you can use a fake email address to post a comment…we just force you to take that extra step because it helps slow down the spambots. (Thanks for your patience, eatme@yousuck.com.) Just remember that email addresses are not posted to the site and a fake email address means we can’t contact you to let you know if we post one of your suggestions (although we forget to do that half the time, anyway).

Youtube doesn’t have a great selection of material so I’m posting the link to his Bandcamp.

This is an Australian One-Man “Blackened Ancient Egyptian Occult Space Metal” act. The lyrics are spells taken from the Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead and his songs can either be very short or VERY long (take approx half hour long at most).

BLACKHANDPATH are a pretty unsettling industrial hip-hop duo that mixes power electronics, hip hop and glitch hop and thrives in hard topics with very edgy lyricism

Porky Vagina – swine themed marriage of goregrind and every genre that you can think of. Surpisingly palatable.

The HU seem to be rising this week. They blend metal with traditional Mongolian sound. Might be worthy of being on this website.

I don’t see an entry for Swans on here. Swans are indie-famous post-rockers, yes, but they’ve got a long history of producing weird fuckin’ music. From pounding proto-industrial rock that’s basically just grooves, clanging, and shouts, to disturbing post-rock filled with brain-grinding repetition, and even weird goth rock for a while, they seem to have trafficked in all things unsettling. Plus they did a cover of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” that, while I haven’t heard it, is probably quite disturbing. I think they deserve a slot for the dark, chopped-together weirdness of Soundtracks for the Blind alone.

Brainticket, I suppose they could be loosely described as Krautrock. Their first album Cottonwood Hill is extremely weird, Dawn Muir the singer sounds like a bbc reporter in the throes of an acid trip.

  7. Quainex – Maxwell Abeles (aka MAKS)
New album “Best of the Worst” IDM inspired singer-songwriter album. Sonically built upon MaxMSP synth excursions, in depth classical harmonies, and a flair for harsh noise wall. No triads allowed :)!

I have no idea what thats about.
    And why.
But i very much like it.

also: SHORTPARIS, merely for being weird overall, not just the music itself.

Y’all should check out Tendon Levey, he’s got an absolutely wild backstory and massive discography. His last album, Countertorch, is probably a pretty good introduction to his style.

Not sure if he’s been mentioned before, but Glen Meadmore?

    Song starts at about 1:23.

America’s premier gay cowpunk, he did some stuff with RuPaul and Vaginal Davis back in the day. There’s a few good music videos and some live stuff on Youtube.
