The court annuls the primaries of the government of Abia APGA and orders new elections

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday annulled the Grand Alliance of All Progressives gubernatorial primary election held on May 29, 2022 and has given a 14-day ultimatum for a new primary election to take place.

Judge Binta Nyako, who presided over the case, gave the order following a lawsuit filed by a would-be governor, Chief Chikwe Udensi, challenging the result of the primary election.

After losing the election to Professor Greg Ibe, a dissatisfied Udensi went to court.

Judge Nyako ruled that, based on the evidence and witness testimony, the May 29 primary election was “flawed and marred with irregularities.”

Although Udensi had urged the court to declare him the winner instead of Ibe, the court resorted to ordering a new primary to be held.
