Putting an end to the controversy surrounding his academic records, ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu has said he has just received his original replacement degree certificate from Chicago State University.
This was made known by Tinubu on Monday while answering questions during his appearance at Chatham House in London, where he addressed controversies surrounding his age, school and background in the private sector.
Tinubu said he has so far refused to participate in debates with his fellow presidential candidates because it is marketable and as such he would not allow groups or institutions to use it to make money.

Tinubu said he was born on March 29, 1952, adding that those who questioned claims that he was from the Tinubu family could request a DNA test. He also claimed that Mobile Oil attested to his outstanding track record. He said;
“At the time of my birth, it was dated March 29, 1952 in the family register. So, I don’t think he would have decided to be president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, or even that I went into politics.
“I have had a very good background in life. My record is consistent at the university they questioned. Now they have confessed that they wasted their money and time. The record is there, and the transcript is there showing March 1952.
“I am not claiming another father, I am Tinubu and Tinubu proper. If they want DNA, they might as well request one.
“One of them was even accused of not being a Nigerian citizen, I didn’t touch that area.
“Even so, it’s still the same. Chicago State University, where I graduated, has attested to this. Now, I can announce that I have received my original replacement degree certificate from them.
“Deloitte trained me as an accountant. Mobile Oil has attested to my excellent track record. I reached the pinnacle of my career in the private sector. Who among them can boast of that?
“Yes, if you want to fight with the pig, you have to live with the dirt. That’s what I’m doing. I got into politics knowing full well that it is murky water. Smog will hit, and you’ll have to live with the dirt and make sure you’re upright to finish the job.”
On why he avoided participating in debates unlike his colleagues in the presidential raceTinubu said, “I see myself as a marketable individual. You want to use me to make money and I say no.”

There have been many controversies surrounding Tinubu’s age, parentage and origin status, educational qualification, and even employment record, which usually comes up every election cycle.
There were some reports that allegedly claimed that there was no record of the APC presidential candidate attending Chicago State University and working with Deloitte in the United States.
However, a few days ago, there were some media reports showing a series of images in which Tinubu was welcomed by his alma mater, Chicago State University, a few years ago.
In addition, a few months ago, the Chicago State University, after a consultation, stated that Bola Tinubu graduated from the institution.
