Vivo Y01A with 5000mAh Battery, 6.51-inch Display Launched in Thailand: Price, Specs – NewsNaija.com.ng

Vivo has quietly launched a new Y series smartphone. The company has launched the Vivo Y01A as its new budget smartphone. The device is currently available in Thailand. We can expect it to be available in other markets. The Y01A is one of the more affordable smartphones from Vivo’s stable. For the uninitiated, the Y series includes entry-level to mid-range smartphones.

The Y01A is more of a sibling to the Y01, which was released earlier this year. Because it’s a budget offering, the Y01A has a polycarbonate back. The phone also has an IPS LCD screen. It comes with a waterdrop notch at the top of the screen. The device also comes in two different color options. Let’s take a look at the price, specifications and other details of the Vivo Y01A.

Vivo Y01A: Price

The Vivo Y01A launched in Thailand with only one storage option. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded. The device is priced at THB 3,999 which is roughly Rs 9,100. It has been launched in Thailand in two colors: Sapphire Blue and Elegant Black.

Vivo Y01A: Specifications

In terms of specifications, the Y01A has a fairly tall 6.51-inch IPS LCD screen. The screen has an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. In case you’re wondering, no, there’s no support for a high refresh rate and the phone offers a standard 60Hz display. The bezels around the display are pretty thin, except for the chunky chin.

The Y01A does not come with a fingerprint scanner. Instead, users can rely on AI face unlock, which uses the front-facing camera housed within the waterdrop notch for authentication purposes. There is a 5MP front camera. On the back, the phone has a small rectangular camera module for the 8MP rear camera. The camera module also makes room for an LED flash.

In terms of software, the Y01A is quite old and boots Android 11 (Go Edition) out of the box. It has a layer of Funtouch OS 11.1 on top. Ideally, Vivo should have shipped the phone running Android 12 at least, if not Android 13. Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC, which, again, is a pretty old SoC. The phone comes with only 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Users can use a microSD card to expand storage.

The phone has dual SIM support. It comes with support for 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, etc. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Y01A packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 10W charging via a micro-USB port. It weighs about 178 grams and is 8.28 mm thick. What do you think about the new Vivo smartphone?
