Xiaomi 13 series launch postponed

The wait for the new Xiaomi 13 series will be a bit longer than expected. According to the latest announcement, the launch event has been postponed. “We are sorry to inform you that the launch of the new Mi 13 series will be postponed. We will notify you as soon as the new launch date is confirmed. Thank you for your understanding and support,” Xiaomi posted on Weibo. The company did not state the exact reason behind the launch of the upcoming series of flagship smartphones.

The Xiaomi 13 series could debut later in December. Usually, the brand releases its flagship phones at the end of December. Things were going to be a little different this time around, but the launch postponement means that Xiaomi’s new flagship phones could debut a bit later.

Xiaomi is expected to announce the new release date soon. Meanwhile, what we do know about the phones is that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will feature a 50MP 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. It will be accompanied by a 75mm Leica telephoto sensor. The 13 Pro is rumored to pack dual 50MP Samsung JN1 sensors for the telephoto and ultra-wide cameras along with the 1-inch 50MP sensor. The 13 Pro will have a 6.73-inch 120Hz OLED display, while the standard model will come with a smaller 6.3-inch 120Hz Full HD+ OLED display. While the vanilla model will have a flat screen, the 13 Pro’s screen is slightly curved. Both phones will offer up to 1900 nits of maximum brightness and will sport a perforated cutout at the top center.

The devices are confirmed to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. They are also confirmed to boot MIUI 14 out of the box. The 13 Pro is rumored to pack a 4820mAh battery with 120W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging support. Xiaomi is likely to pack a 4500mAh battery in the vanilla model, which it will support 67W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The devices are also likely to come in leather and glass back color options. Xiaomi might launch the 13 Pro with 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB storage options. The Vanilla model is likely to launch with 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB storage options.
