More than 2,000 young people attended a one-of-a-kind Afrobeats gospel concert at Lekki Leisure Beach in Lagos State.
The event, which took place on Sunday, featured performances by fast-rising Nigerian ‘Afrogospel’ artists such as Spirit of Prophecy, Prinx Emmanuel, Greatman Takit and many others.
A statement made available to the punch on Tuesday revealed that the theme of the event was ‘AfroRev’, coined from the words ‘Africa’ and ‘Revolution’.
The event, organized by Street Church, was the second edition of its annual Love and Light Fest.
True to theme, the event was very Afrocentric with games, fashion, food, and other elements leaning towards portraying Africa.
The convener, Tobi Oreoluwa, said the event was created to promote the spread of faith and healthy party culture among the young Christian community.
He said this year’s edition focused on the booming music genre, Afrogospel (fusion of Afrobeat and gospel music).
Oreoluwa made a bold claim that Afrogospel was destined to dominate and conquer the world.
It was an extraordinary night for the youngsters as they were wowed by jaw-dropping performances from some of the best acts to rock the Afrogospel music scene in 2022.
With the wave of Afrobeats conquering the world, Afrogospel has also become a very important player in the sub-genre.
